This activity is designed to be a safe space, a “laboratory” in which we use role-playing to explore our desires and behaviors in various life situations. It’s ideal for anyone looking to gain deeper self-awareness, explore their life choices, and practice handling various situations in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.

What We Do

One person describes a real-life situation they find difficult or uncomfortable. The group then acts it out together, so the person can practice and build comfort in a safe, supportive environment.

Another option is to role play a desired result as well as the path to get there. The purpose is to fine-tune our understanding and behavior so as to facilitate our success.

This activity can solidify the belief that what we want is possible, and strengthen positive feelings about the path, as well as provide further valuable insights. We then carry the rehearsed confidence into the real life situation.

Examples

Here are a few examples of role-playing simulations:

  • Preparing for a job interview
  • Imagining giving a talk in front of a large audience
  • Asking someone on a date
  • Handling a difficult situation at work
  • Dealing with a difficult situation in a relationship

What to Expect?

  • Self-Discovery & Insights: You will engage in activities that can help you uncover deeper insights about your desires, fears, and aspirations. Discover limiting beliefs and confront them in a supportive environment.
  • Skill Development: In a simulation, you develop and practice essential life skills such as communication, empathy, and problem-solving.
  • Creativity: You can include “imaginary elements”, e.g. a helper that stands behind you and whispers into your ear what to say. You can also “restart”, “fast forward”, “rewind”, or “slow down” the simulation with different conditions or different instructions to the other players.
  • Feedback & Reflection: After each simulation, we have a group discussion to reflect on our experiences, share feedback, and glean collective wisdom.
